DANGEROUS COMBINATION

Energy Drinks + Cocaine

Energy drinks / high caffeine + Cocaine: the short answerHigh-dose caffeine and cocaine both whip the heart — together they drive heart rate, blood pressure, and body temperature into risky territory while masking how strung out you are. Chest pain on this mix is an ambulance call, not a wait-and-see.

Why it’s dangerous

Caffeine and cocaine are both stimulants that increase heart rate, blood pressure, and stress hormones through overlapping pathways. Energy drinks add large caffeine doses (often with other stimulants) on top of cocaine's cardiovascular load, increasing the risk of palpitations, arrhythmias, and overheating — and the 'second wind' effect encourages longer sessions and higher total doses.

What happens

  • Racing or pounding heartbeat, palpitations
  • Anxiety, jitteriness, and insomnia compounding each other
  • Overheating and dehydration
  • Longer sessions with higher total cocaine intake

Warning signs

  • Chest pain, pressure, or irregular heartbeat
  • Feeling faint, severe headache, or shortness of breath
  • Tremor, panic, or overheating that will not settle

What to do

  • Call emergency services for chest pain, fainting, or a heartbeat that feels dangerously irregular
  • Stop all stimulants, sit somewhere cool, and sip water
  • Skip energy drinks entirely on cocaine nights — your heart does not need the double shift
  • If palpitations or chest symptoms recur, get a medical check even after they pass
